Fish curry is made by cooking fish in a flavorful and aromatic sauce or gravy, typically made with a combination of spices, herbs, and other ingredients. It’s a popular dish in many countries like India, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and various parts of Africa.
Clean the fish filets and cut them into medium-sized pieces.
Marinate the fish pieces with turmeric, chilli powder, salt, and a dash of lemon juice for at least 30 minutes. This allows the flavours to penetrate the fish, making it more delicious.
In a pan, heat some oil and add cumin seeds, Green cardamom, black pepper, and curry leaves. Let them sizzle and release their flavours, to create a fragrant base for the curry.
Add chopped onions and sauté until the onions turn golden brown.
Now add salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, Ginger garlic paste, fish masala powder ( Optional) and Maggie coconut milk powder.
Add 1/4 cup of water and mix everything well.
Let them cook on medium heat until the oil separates.
Pour in the cup of water and bring the gravy to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for a few minutes to allow the flavours to meld together.
Now, carefully place the marinated fish pieces into the simmering gravy. Be gentle while stirring to avoid breaking the fish.
Cover the pan with a lid and let the fish cook in the curry for about 8-10 minutes or until the fish is fully cooked and tender. You can occasionally swirl the pan gently to ensure even cooking.
Taste the curry and adjust the salt and spices according to your preference.
Once the fish is cooked, turn off the heat. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serve the mouthwatering Fish Curry with steamed rice, naan, or any other bread you choose. Enjoy the flavours of this delectable dish!
