How to Make Watermelon Syrup

Step 1: Prepare the Watermelon

First, wash the watermelon properly. Cut it into large pieces and remove the hard outer peel. Then cut the flesh into small pieces so it can be blended easily.

Step 2: Blend the Watermelon

Add the watermelon pieces to a blender and blend well without adding water. Watermelon already contains enough water, so there is no need to add extra liquid.

Step 3: Strain the Juice

Place a strainer over a large bowl and pour the blended watermelon through it. This will separate the seeds and pulp, leaving you with smooth watermelon juice.

Step 4: Add Sugar and Spices

Now add the following ingredients to the strained juice:

  • Lemon juice

  • Black salt

  • Chaat masala

  • Roasted cumin powder

  • Sugar

Mix everything well until combined.

Step 5: Cook the Mixture

Place the mixture on low flame and cook it. After a few minutes, foam will appear on the surface. Remove the foam using a spoon and discard it.

Step 6: Add Color and Thicken

Add 4–5 drops of red food color and cook for another 10 minutes. Do not make it too thick—just cook until it reaches a light syrup consistency.

Step 7: Cool and Store

Turn off the heat and allow the syrup to cool completely. Once cooled, pour it into a clean, dry glass bottle. You can store it in the refrigerator for several months.
